11 Oct 2024
From 06:00 pm to 09:00 pm
The 11th of October is a special day in the city of Bilbao for the "Txikitero people". "Txikiteros" used to be men who, in groups of friends, would meet to drink "txikitos" (small glasses of red wine) from tavern to tavern, while they talked about life, work, politics, football... At the same time, and by the effects of those glasses of wine, they sang the popular songs of the city. This tradition is disappearing among young people, although these "Txikiteros" still meet in the old town. Moreover, on 11 October they celebrate their sacred day and the whole city joins in.
For this reason, we invite you to join us on an ad hoc tour designed to immerse you in the "Txikitero eguna", with 7 stops at places of interest where you will be given explanations on different themes related to the history of Bilbao in general and to the Virgin of Begoña in particular.
